Why Amazon sucks!
by subacati
So, they refunded the import duties on the item they haven't delivered yet, but they haven't got round to refunding the item! 馃檮
They can't deliver the item. I can't cancel the order. Hence, we're at an impasse! :irked:
There is no grievance process available other than my making an international telephone call to Amazon in the USA! :insane:
And how long has this been going on for? Well…
:irked::awww:
Bad bad Amazon! Hope you still get refunded properly. :awww:
Not surprisingly, my oldest niece did encounter a big mess when the International factor was involved in trying to send a package to South America via FedEx. It was Vitamins and since there was no prescription for them, they said they couldn't deliver them. The when and how to return them to the USA is where the stuff hit the fan. I think it was weeks or even a couple of months before there was some movement and it wasn't even the desired movement. I don't know what the holdup was. Eventually FedEx took it upon themselves to just up and send them back via their fastest, most expensive way and wanted to charge my niece for that when my niece had never approved anything. My niece had to talk to some Higher Ups and explain why she was not responsible for paying for anything. Eventually FedEx dropped their demand for payment when they realized somebody did screwup on their end.
I have only dealt with Amazon once ever and they were very surprisingly super prompt with their delivery. I believe it even arrived sooner than they told me it would arrive. Then again, that was here in the USA. No International complications involved.
I have had zero issues with Amazon. Can't you text LiveChat on the web, on the site? I do that all the time, and the reps are super-helpful.

The issue is that they use this crappy fly-by-night courier service so they don't see it as a problem with them. And the courier doesn't give a damn, they've already been paid after all! :awww:Originally posted by Suntana:
Well there's ya problem! :pI would never bother with a courier service for anything other than transplant organs! Postal services are Worldwide and well established! And they're both faster and cheaper than any Gorram fly-by-night wannabe postman!
But, but … but, I thought FedEx was supposed to be the role model of excellence, speed and accuracy of delivery … faster than having the packages beamed by the USS Enterprise Transporter Room. :headbang: But, seriously, I personally have very little experience dealing with receiving packages via all those FedEx types. Aside of that package from Amazon, which arrived via UPS, about the only other package I can remember receiving at some other time was my Gateway computer way back in 2001 also via UPS.Hmmm??? Then again, there WAS the infamous Opera Swag fiasco. :insane: :furious: 馃槨 I can't even remember how that one was delivered. I think I vaguely remember though, that it was via an old Wild Wild West carriage with the wheels missing and the 2 donkeys pulling it having arthritis. Now THAT one took several FOREVERs. 6 months I believe. :ko: :faint:

The name "FedEx" usually triggers this train of thinking in my head, 'FedEx … Cast Away … Coconut cracking … Wilson!!!' (Sorry. I'm in a disaster survival mode lately :p)
Couriers should have a code applied to them that they are forced to adhere to. I still remember waiting in all day for a delivery that never came, then answering the door to find the item had simply been left outside where anyone could take it.
I'm not a frequent Amazon shopper. Most of the items I want aren't shipped to Denmark, and when I ordered some books for Mr. Rinse, the postage made the book twice as expensive! :eyes:

Ah, I see. Couriers are horrid. We have one here that is a particular bother.
The trouble is that, after dialing the number, you will prabably get automated answering system that will guide you through the process of contacting customer support :left:"If you are calling from country outside USA, including Mexico and Canada, press 32514895. If you are calling from Africa, press 9856485365487. Then press code for your country, for Algiers – 369, for Egypt – 852, for Ethiopia – 458, for Kenya….." :insane: By the time you got to talk to someone your phone bill will go sky high :ko:

I got the sack from one of their warehouses a few weeks ago. They are not a firm I would have chosen to wrk for if I had been better informed. Everything at the double and no time for breaks. 20 minutes maximum in an 8 hour shift.I might write a blog about it. Some Techie comments can be found online. Most employees keep off the subject by order of the management.Work Hard, be happy, make history.(Moto on the entrance of the warehouse floor at Rugely, Britain.)
So, basically it's slave labour conditions! :left:
The odd thing about it is that we were all fairly happy. I think that that was because we hadn't got used to having all that loose dosh rattling around in our pockets after years of unemployment. The managerial system only caused temporary frowns. But then, I wasn't there long enough for it all to sink in. I was there long enough to compose a jolly little ditty though:Hi Ho; Hi Ho; it's off to work we go with a half hour break you dare not tke, oh no; oh no.Singing that and calling across the aisles: "Work happy, be hard." probably failed to endear me to the plonkers on the pick-desk. The Pick Desk is where those with the right potential go to be trained in the noble art of managerial relationships, also known as Rat F-ing.I began to understand how governments find people like the marines who ran and still run George Bush's prison system. And why the inmates pulled their overseers to shreds as soon as the SS left the German concentration camps. You start with too many managers and have them all spying on one another asking pointless questions and demanding answers. I think it is designed to weed out the ones who know and expect better, leaving the rest to work hard, be happy and make history. And getting the constant intake of desperate people that the company thrives on. All too easy to do in depressions. (Makes me wonder if George W was designed to do the ultimate by his handlers. He seemed to have a natural bent for failure. You couldn't find a better, bigger, loser if you auditioned.

Yes. It is a catch 22 situation. The farmers suffer most as the big supermarkets operate their warehouses in exactly the same way. The farer has to gt rid of his milk everyday and rush on with the next quota. He doesn't have time to sell it himself. And there are only huge totopolies to sell to.That is how most farms get to be monoculturalists too. They can only afford to grow one crop and scramble to get the last weed out of it and the last grain from the field. then get a pittance for it.Small agrarian communities may long for the wealth of city lives but it is an illusion they are forced to hold up at the base. It would be better to live in an idylic community, where the farmer sells his crops to the local markets. He can grow what he thinks will do best and taste nicest then.British food is almost tasteless.
Having spent so much time in NZ, and having travelled around Yerp for many years, I can state, without fear of contradiction, that compared to NZ in particular and Pacifica in general, most supermarket-sourced european food is boring, tasteless and old. By which I mean not fresh when you buy it. Wilted cabbages. Potatoes going soft. Tomatoes & grapes etc. that are mouldering after only a couple of days in the fridge. Living here (again) has just reminded me how poorly Europeans are served by the EEC and all it's subsidies….<pointless rant about subsidising food that's a) in excess of any requirements and b) not worth selling, not included>\edit : I agree totally about the supermarkets. They are the ones ripping *everyone* off, starting with the producers (and not just food).
have you even received your refund yet?

In a culture of bad management the customer falls between the cracks as each department passes them along or chooses to pretend they don't exist. The worst case is when Amazon sacks a manager as he then becomes to repository of all sin.
On the subject of bad customer service, I was shopping for a new overcoat recently and found a site that tailor makes them to your measurements which would be perfect for me. Unfortunately the site doesn't say what degree of wool is used in the wool blend material used for the overcoat so I contacted them and asked. They replied promptly to let me know that it was a mix of 70% wool with… 30% wool. :left: Now I don't know about you guys but I'm pretty good at maths and that adds up to one hundred percent wool which isn't a blend in anyones eyes. I can only assume that one of those wools is actually something else masquerading as wool in the form of a typo. Having contacted them about that mistake a couple of weeks ago I'm yet to receive a reply informing me the exact composition of the fabrics. :irked:Things are much easier with a real tailor. They know their stuff and can tell you anything you ask. You just have to leave feeling dirty and ashamed from the ways they measure you. 馃槷
