The Mystery of the Missing Blog
by subacati
Just a heads up for our mutual friends. FlaRin has 'lost' his blog. :awww:.
It seems that something's gone haywire and now the posts can only be accessed via direct links. :awww:

We still love ya!
I don't know what's happened – I haven't made *any* changes – I went to make the next song quiz and found the whole thing has disappeared.I don't store mp3s in opera, only link to my own bona fide storage space (which I pay for) – I don't think I'm breaking any Opera rules or putting Opera at risk by doing that….
Thanks for the tip. What happened there?
Yeah, it's back now..
It seems to be working now, Chuck Norris probably borrowed it for a short while
I think you smilies went the same way. π
yeah, I noticed that. :irked:.:irked:
Weird…. :left:
oh wait.. leo just had access problems.. Still does..
Yes, mine is working again :YAY: – although every time I start a pm, I get this error :I've told Robert and Espen (both of whom I asked for assistance, don't know which one arranged the fix)…but it would be interesting to know if anyone else gets that issue. When I click on OK, it goes, and no actual problems are observed. Thanks for your post here, Mr Scientist – I appreciate you giving the 'heads up' :shakes hand: :)\edit : in fact, the smilies that don't work all seem to be the ones with a full stop (period) directly after them.
Yeah, I figured that out. They are now forcing a space both before and after the smileys. :awww: .Which means that almost every smiley I've used for last three years is now rendered as text. :irked: .
How bloody annoying is that!! (excuse my gutter Portuguese).I must admit that change seems to be a pointless exercise – I wonder if there's a good reason for it, or if it's just a flawed bit of coding that no one noticed :worried:
I get the "friends data" thing on PMs too…
OK Rose – I've updated Robertj with that piece of info – it's a new bug π

I just got word that Opera will be shipping a patch to remove that message, although the *real* fix may take some time π
the reason we have 'updates' π .
It's all the fault of the Blackberry server.
Annoying, for sure, but those things happen here and there :left:
Blackberry *have* to be on the way out by now, surely? The bane of any email admin's life, those bloody things :bah:

…and now, whispers are *not* working – they're invisible to everyone – I whispered one of your comments in my blog, Mr. Scientist (the one with a direct link to an MP3 for phonies to download, if you recall) – it became invisible, even to me!! :irked:
Some would probably call it an "improvement"… π
The whole comment is gone! .It appears to have been deleted! :sherlock: .
I think it's deliberate. Why else would they call their releases "bug packages" and not "bug fixes" .

None of you (except Ben, who has seen my posted reports and has exchanged views with me on what's happening) will be aware of the post I made about the bugs that affected my posts, but looking in here now I see that some of you are affected by whatever has happened.
In a strange way I'm comforted to know that I am not alone in all of this. As soon as I saw the bugs affecting my layouts and so on I wanted to know if it was just on my blog or was widespread. I posted a comment in an Operadev forum but I have heard no more. Back when I started in OC (2004) it was very easy to go to an OperaDesk that was displayed on the Community page, but these days it seems the only way to know what is going on is to ask around. Even so, no one seems to know when the buggy situation will be cleared up. :sherlock:

Indeed it has, because I got paranoid about Opera shutting me down (as they threatened once before, with MP3s) and then when I couldn't see the text with the link, I thought it was bad news, so – away the comment went π Now we know that my paranoia was unfounded, but nevermind π

Puts a saucer of milk next to the desktop for the gremlins. :left: :right:
Oh, Okay, so it's back now. I guess FlaRin doesn't have to look under the bed, under the Fridge or even inside his shoes for the lost Blog. Anyway, while this is no doubt the result of the current MyOpera herd of Gremlins, this reminded me of Kimberley's problem last year or so. As I vaguely recall, for weeks people could also only get to her Blog Posts via direct links or something like that. In her Blog's case though, I believe it turned out to be some corrupt Post that Jaxs eventually managed to be able to delete and then Kimberley's Blog worked properly again.
Glues the saucer to the table.
They'll eat the saucer and leave the milk :left: :left:

I've seen a corrupt email crash an industrial strength email server on a number of occasions, so it doesn't really surprise me that it happens π
That's not the only case that I've seen, Aadil.Actually, way back in my early days on MyOpera, I helped out this guy from the Dominican Republic. Well, I didn't help him out with the actual problem, but I served as the Spanish / English Translator between him and MyOpera. His Blog was also sort of Locked Up. For some reason it took around 6 weeks to get it fixed, but as I recall, it did turn out to be 2 corrupt Posts.Well, in his case, I guess it doesn't surprise me that he corrupted 2 Posts. He issued me a Friend Request. So, I proceeded to check out his Blog. I couldn't quite make out just exactly what the premise, the niche of his Blog was. But, it did seem to have some shady activity going on. Somehow I quickly questioned the legality of whatever "enterprises" he had going on. In fact, I think I vaguely recall that if I stayed checking out his Blog for around 3 to 5 minutes, it would literally start to make my screen's content start to disintegrate. :insane: Not good. Something wasn't right on his Blog. I declined his Friend Request and distanced myself from him.Not too long after that, he PM-ed me wanting me to help him again. He showed me the PM he had gotten from MyOpera. He had been banned for copyright infringement. This time I made it clear he was on his own on that one.

Me too Rose, had to put up with it at work for years. π₯
