In the news!

Well, actually it was my brother who was in the news. :left: Well, sort of anyway! :p
Prince Charles inspects New Zealand armed forces at Government House in Wellington.
Prince Charles celebrates birthday in Wellington
:sst: My Brother is the one who looks like he doesn't belong there! π
My niece posted this on Facebook or we'd never have known! π
:edit: I had to use a screen shot because I couldn't download the photo! (I got the wrong photo)

He doesn't live there as far as I know, he lives in Blenheim. So this was just in the line of duty! :p:sst: I think he needs a bigger tunic, that one's buttons are just about to pop! :p
Wow! I remember you said your brother was in NZ. Didn't know he was in the same town. Amazing! It was a great day in Wellington. We even put an eclipse on to celebrate the occasion! π

 Like I said, he looks kinda out of place between the others! :p

So he's with the air force, then. Not another full figured serviceman in the centre in the army uniform. π
Is he the one with the up and coming boepie :p
So, Te Tauaarangi o Aotearoa, huh? Bravo! I have a niece in there too, she's going to go far
'Te Tauaarangi o Aotearoa' literally means New Zealand Warriors of the Sky in Maori \edit : it used to be 'Te Hokowhitu o Kahurangi' (War party of the Blue), which I think was pretty cool in itself π

You'll have to translate that for me! π
If you use Google NZ (as I do exclusively), it is also offered in Maori (although that makes it bloody hard to use if you don't understand Maori )You could play with The Maori Dictionary online
I must remember that!:sst: I guessed that it was Maori, but Google doesn't have that option! π
Your brother is the one who swings the sword? :knight:

No, the one on the other side of the Prince. :p:sst: the first Airforce guy!

At least he is not too tall like those other chaps π

He's actually slightly taller than me, and I'm 1.75m tall! (5'9")So those other chaps are all over 6' by my estimation! (although the perspective on the photo could be misleading! )Note that Prince Charles is 1.78m (5'10") and he appears to be roughly in line with the third Airforce person. However, I suspect that they are standing on some sort of platform because otherwise we're looking closer to 7' for those other chaps and around 6'3" for my brother! :insane:And he's not that tall unless he's had his legs surgically extended since I last saw him! :p
That is what bothers me in the picture. Those guys on right looks extremely tall :insane: If they are from air force, then they must have troubles to fit into a cockpit π
Te Tauaarangi o Aotearoa hasn't got any little planes, only big ones…
Originally posted by serola:
Apparently it depends on which plane a tall / big pilot would have to fit into.I quickly remembered about Chad Hennings, a former Defensive Tackle for the NFL Dallas Cowboys. He's a tall / big guy and he was an Air Force Pilot. I checked in Wikipedia and apparently due to his size, he was only eligible to be a pilot for the F-111, the F-15 or the A-10 jets. He wound up being an A-10 Pilot. So, I guess he wouldn't have fit into the cockpit of say, an F-16.
Cool!
NZ has no fast jets at all, only Hercules, Orions, 757s, King Airs and 2 types of helicopter. Oh, and the CT4 Airtrainer. I imagine they all cater for the taller (and fuller) figure π

Yes, I realized that as well. Right after writing my comment I went to see RNZAF's web site π
They used to fly A4 Skyhawks, but refurbishing them was too expensive, the govt. said, so they sent a couple to museums and the rest are mothballed, I think. An unpopular move to the old guard, but probably realistic in todays world π
Hmmm??? :sherlock: On the flip side, I wonder if Tom Cruise's character Maverick in Top Gun had to use a Booster Chair to see out of the cockpit of the F-14 Tomcat? Cuz isn't Tom Cruise short? The immediate Google page has Tom Cruise at 5' 7" tall. That is 1 inch shorter than me.Oh, Okay. I just found this:http://www.ehow.com/list_6679874_air-force-fighter-pilot-requirements.htmlSo then it wasn't a sham that Maverick could have been a Fighter Pilot a 5' 7" since the height range is 5' 4" to 6' 5" tall.
Testing Testing …

Well, maybe they just run around and they're so tall they think they're flying? :sherlock: Originally posted by FlaRin:
Makes sense! :up:Originally posted by Suntana:
What are you testing? :left:
Oh, I was just testing to see if my previous comment would appear. MyOpera is still experiencing that problem whereby comments don't immediately display upon submitting them.

"My Brother is the one who looks like he doesn't belong there!" π Now founding him was too easy π
Nice of you to send your brother to represent you…that is what happened, right?
