Pop tarts and Gatorade
by subacati
A 9 year old girl survived on pop tarts and Gatorade for two days after the vehicle that she and her father were traveling in overturned. According to this report, her father was killed in the accident. :left: .
I mention this story only because I know that the TCG will be happy to hear that there is now proof that pop tarts can save your life. .
I wonder if the manufacturers will use it for an advertising campaign? Or would that be in bad taste..
Very rarely, but sometimes they get told to stop 😀
Since when has bad taste ever gotten in the way of advertising? 🙄 .
I'm not sure this proves anything been as i could survive on air for 2 days…and probably be healthier in the process :left:
It might have been the Gartorade that saved her.
Seems that her date with Azrael has not come yet, so happy for her
wow! I bet she'll never eat pop tarts again. Poor girl 😦
The Gatorade may have helped to keep her hydrated. But I agree that the pop tarts probably didn't make any real difference to her survival. :left: .Of course, a news website needs to attract visits somehow and it made a good headline for them. :p .:sst: . To be fair, putting ridiculously irrelevant facts into the headlines works. It's the only reason I clicked on the link to that story in the first place. .
I could live on Pop Tarts and Gatorade for several years, myself. Noms. 😀
She's gonna have bad associations with Pop Tarts and Gatorade for the rest of her life, given that her dead father was in the car with her. 😦
:awww: .
2 days? Why does everyone make it sound like 20? Or 2 months..I've lived on peanut butter and coffee for a month as I worked towards my paycheck and I've never eaten peanutbutter without jam ever again.. :p.On a darker note there is the fact that she was next to her dead father for two days.. :insane:
:awww: .
This post has brought me down a bit =/ Though it's more extensive snacking than any survival.. She probably had a portable dvd player too.
I'm sorry about that. :awww: .
For 2 days, it's not far-fetched that someone can survive on Pop Tarts & Gatorade. Not that I or any of the rest of us would want to volunteer to try that out. But, think about it. How often do we hear about how most Models / Super Models survive on LESS than that DAILY for longer periods of time? I've heard of Models eating 3 Olives, a leaf of Lettuce and a micro cup of Tea or similar "meals" like that in a DAY! And that can't really be a lie because those Models LOOK like that's what they eat. :insane:In that 2 day span, I would say the Gatorade was the more important one of the 2 items. It was more important for the girl to stay hydrated. The Pop Tarts were a very welcome bonus that did help given the situation, but the girl would be more likely to survive on the Gatorade alone for 2 days rather than on Pop Tarts alone for 2 days without any water.
I remember a couple of years back hearing about some people surviving a similar situation by eating packets of Taco Bell Hot Sauce and Ketchup. :eyes: I can't remember how many people it was or for how many days … but, I sure hope it wasn't too many people and too many days. Otherwise it would have taken a whole mess of those packets to be of any significant nutrition help.
Now if they'd had tomato paste, they would've fared much better … nutritionally-speaking.
:yuck: :ko:
Good thing dad wasn't on the menu… :yuck:
:lol:But then, you're stuck in a car for two days with a dead dad next to you… Not something you'll forget easily.

Chuck is right there. A person can go a very long time without food as long as they can stay hydrated. While I was in hospital I went for two weeks without eating a couple different times, but as I was getting an IV drip I stayed hydrated. So, here I am, still alive.
FYI, Gatorade was actually formulated for my Florida GATORS! http://www.gatorade.com/history/default.aspx

Sooo … then all that the Miami Dolphins are missing is Gatorade? Is that what's behind their woes … their lack of Gatorade on the sidelines and in their bellies? If this were the case, then when a team is getting pushed around and getting beat like a drum, the course of action wouldn't be for the coach to chew them out at half time and for him to change his coaching strategy. The course of action would be for the coach to go, "Alright, you bunch of underachieving good for nothings … let's all tank up on Gatorade. We'll pull this game around."
The Gators just leveled the playing field when they shared their Gatorade. They should have kept that secret in the swamp! Nothing, not even Gatorade, will help the crybaby dolphins!
Plain water can have a revitalising effect. Especially if you're slightly dehydrated! :p .
It could be the placebo effect. It reminds me of a case with my oldest sister and her husband. They buy this … this drink from Walmart. They treat it as, consider it an Energy Drink. They are these little packets of powder that you pour into about 10 or 12 ounces of water. My sister's husband does drink it as intended, with the full packet into the required amount of water. But, my sister on the other hand, she sprinkles a smidgen, probably a freakin' less than a ¼ packet into a Glass of water. And she SWEARS that it just revives her and gives her the energy to help her make it through the day. :rolleyes:Frankly, I've tested it and IMO her claim is a load of crap. The results are all in her mind. For starters, nothing on the label indicates it's remotely meant to be an "Energy Drink." It is simply a freakin' "Drink" closer to Kool-Aid than to Gatorade. Secondly, I read the ingredients and it has NONE of the typical ingredients that true Energy Drinks typically have. There is no Caffeine, Vitamin B12, B6 and such ingredients. And thirdly, as I said, I tried it out Full Strength. It tastes Okay, but that's about it. It didn't revive me in the remote least. It didn't make me want to go run a Marathon, climb a mountain, dig a giant ditch or swim the Gulf of Mexico. Ehhh, I didn't want to rain on my sister's parade with my findings. If she has conditioned her mind to believe that it definitely makes a difference for her, more power to her.
Hmmm??? Maybe I can talk her into having a bowl of Popcorn per day as a revitalizing Pick Me Up Booster.
Just don't have any Gatorade. It just might make you want to reshingle the roof before going to work. 😆
Some friend you turned out to be. Why am I just now hearing about this miracle powder??? All this time, I've been drinking coffee and popping Sublingual B 12 under my tongue for energy.
:sherlock: Hmmm??? I wonder if Gatorade would help me win in Pictionary?
Speaking of work, I'd better get off here and get ready to go in…my first alarm has already gone off.
As much as i'd like to champion the Pop tarts for the TCG, yea it must've been the Gatorade keeping her alive BECAUSE Bear Grylls told me just this week in fact that a human can survive without food for 3 weeks, but without fluid only 3 days about. DAMNIT!
