So it looks like I won’t be getting the Nokia N900 after all!
by subacati
I was already having doubts, mostly because I don't really need a new phone just yet. :left:. …
Well, I went to go buy a few things today. One item on my shopping list was the Nokia N900 that just became available last month. :left:.
Apparently, it was recallled because of USSD issues..
So I couldn't get it anyway. :left:.
I also bought a laser printer and 1G ram for my netbook. :left:. But the ram is the wrong speed. :awww:. So now I have to figure out how to get that sorted out. It costs too much to go back but I can't use this ram so I don't know what to do. :awww:.
Tomorrow I must test the laser printer. I hope that works 'out of the box'. :faint:.
I hate shopping, primarily because of the aftermath issues. It's so frustrating. I once heard a psychologist tell about the five steps of action: 1) the need gets conscious, 2) the wish to satisfy the need forms, 3) you mobilise your will powers, 4) you scope the environment for remidy and 5) you act. I have to add: 6) you get f#ยค%ing dissapointed…;)
ouch.. So you didn't really get what you want. :insane:.My shopping is end of this month and it doesn't look like I'm gonna get what I want ๐
Well I should know better than to deal with 'Incredible Connection'. :wince:.I've been burnt there before..I just expect too much. I actually expect them to know their own products. :awww:.Today I'm going to try to get it from M.I.B.At least I now know that I need the 533Mhz DDR2 and not the 800Mhz DDR2..Anyone wanna buy a brand new 1GB, 800Mhz DDR2 SODIMM for their laptop? :left:.
not at present. But i'll email someone in ct that might know someone. Actually gonna visit him last weekend of this month so need to mail him anyway.
Shopping is only fun when you get what you really want! I hate bringing 'wrong stuff' home! :irked: I hope you get it all sorted out!
Well I've placed an order for the ram I need at M.I.B..So I hope to get it eventually. :awww:.(most distributors are still closed, schools only start this week after all.)
I like shopping but I always ask myself: "Do you really need it?"So I mostly come home empty handed. ๐ But I had to buy a HP 57 printer cartridge today. I have been postponing it too long. ๐
the most thing which makes me angry and desperate is not to find what i want or to feel that i am obliged to bring a certain thing cause i have no other choice ๐ฆ
The 'do I really need it' question tends to mess with my brain as well..Lack of choice is bad enough. But it's the illusion of choice that bugs me more. :awww:.
Wooowww
I stripped an Iomega external drive to install internally in my netbook. :p.I still have the cute case it came in. ๐
I`ve bought a cute little 1TB external usb hard drive. iOmega :heart:Sorry you couldn`t get what you wanted…
I can spend hours on trying to find out all possible details before buying anything and still mistakes happen :awww: These days one should be genius to understand all technical mumble jumble ๐ฅ
Yeah, and this seem to be the case with help services as well. Couple of times I found out I know more than help service where I called ๐
That's why the sales assistants really need to know the products. :irked:.It worries me that I know more, in my ignorance, than someone who works in a computer shop. :insane:.I'm still trying to recover from yesterday. :left:.Imagine someone who works in a computer franchise store answering the phone, and they don't even know what ram is! :faint:.
The two mobile network operators here both have 'customer care' lines. When you phone, you spend twenty minutes listening to stupid recordings that tell you how to check your balance or reload your airtime. When you state you complaint to an operator, they simply regurgitate the recordings to you.."for all queries or complaints, please dial 0800-4Q2" :awww:
This sounds worse than a bad hair day!!! :O :OHow did the printer work?!
:sst:. It's still in the box. I haven't tried it yet. ๐ฎ
Did you really say Nokia N900 arrived RSA just last month? But I've been using it for long in 9ja.
Yeah. :awww:. It was meant to be available in April last year, but Nokia and Vodacom couldn't come to an agreement. :irked:.
๐ I really hate this disappointing feeling after shopping, so I usually think twice and rethink again … and when I've made my decision … the offer or the special thing isn't to get anymore … it mostly ends with humming "You can't always get what you want"
Sometimes, you just don't know what you want before you get it, or don't, as the case may be. :p.
P.S:I noticed a weird anonymous comment on your wife's blog the other day. :left:.Hope it's not something too serious. :awww:.
 thanks for the hint … been away a little longer … but this will change now
why not the N8 ๐ meego is so new that there wont be many softwares available yet.
The N8 is Symbian..For a consumer phone, Symbian is great.. However, it's the open Linux base that makes Meamo, and hence it's successor Meego, the potential power tool it is. :hat:. Most Linux apps either already have a port for Meamo, or there is a port in the pipeline..That means that the N900 already has more useful and functional apps than just about any other phone out there..Off course, it's kinda lacking in those one-line 'apps' that are just links to a webpage, but who uses those anyway?.The only apps I use frequently on my E65 (Symbian) are Operamini and X-plore. :left:.
yes, N8 uses symbian^3. i hate Linux ๐ฆ i lost all my precious files thanks to installing Ubuntu ( i know it's my mistake, i know nothing about those things, but i still blame on it anyway:D)

I've wiped hard drives and such many times. Sometimes I get things back that are accidently erased sometimes I don't..
sometimes?
lol. it worried me a bit when i watched that guy helping me getting back the files. all the photos the websites contained i've entered appear on the screen, from the tiny icons to the big photos, even some stuff i saw 3 years ago >"< he said "it's impossible to lose ur files forever, no matter how many times u re-install ur computer, from mac to unbuntu to windows, they're still there, the thing is u know how to get them back or not" GEEZZ….
Impossible unless you deliberately erase everything using shred. :p.
Low level format would erase them for good ๐

Not entirely true. On a magnetic media, it is possible to recover previous data even after new data has been written over it. The process involves using an oscilliscope to read the signal from the head and filtering out the current data signal. The old latent signal will be visible as smaller peaks..This won't work on flash memory though.Originally posted by There2ia:
Well things are just things anyway. :p. It's people that count..
And if you erase people there is no way you can get them back. Unless it is Elvis we are talking about. He's in the cache memory of the Universe.

Exactly. But do you have oscilloscope of that kind somewhere in your flat waiting for being properly used? For most users low level format is the end of all data…
.
That will make it very difficult to retrieve. Even for police forensics experts, but not impossible. :p.
I will remember this ๐
Yes but Elvis was promoted to god by the Graceland family church..

well, he was replaced by a guy in a red jacket wearing a single white glove..And now a hobbit with a helmet hairdo is trying to usurp him! :insane:.

it's not secret, it's open source..
