Twilight in Bethlehem
by subacati
I was taking a walk after supper and saw some creatures flitting around in the twigight. Took me a few minutes to realise what they were. :p. …
Bats in my brother's backyard! :hat:.

Oh how i love bats
They're a lot more gracefull in flight than stupid vampire movies would have us believe..
We have a lot of them here, during summer. One even flew into my aunt`s appartment, through the window, and scared the hell out of her 😀
Yeah. I was working for a contractor once and was up on a roof. There were piles of tiles waiting to be installed. As I walked past one pile there was this squeeking. I looked and there was a bat. It didn't fly off so I picked it up by the wings and walked over to the edge and called Pete, the framing foreman. When he looked up I let go of the bat so as to make it glide and it did until it was just over his head and then it started flapping away. 😆 needless to say he was startled. 😀
Bats will give you rabies you know. :insane:
Only if they're infected with rabies..Bats are seldom seen because their hunting time is during twilight. So it's a nice to see them..
There's a fungal infection going around on this continent that's killing them while they hibernate. Then they get trampled over by Valkeries during the 7th inning stretch at the Polo Grounds(only in 3D).
I've never seen a bat up close.
 We have bats living around as well. It is a mystery to me what they do during the winter. Do they move south or do they really hibernate through long and cold winter :left:
Salam Muharram Sir Qlue 🙂
Sami- You make me google. :lol:Please don't blame me for anything you find to be offense. I'm only trying to fit in. " Dothey move south or dothey really hibernatethrough long and coldwinter" – I believe that depends on the species. Some do both, others neither.
"Oook!". ?Is that a new style of footwear and do they come in affordable mens sizes? Patent leather will no longer be necessary! "All things must pass"
Oook! :p

Cool, I like that. I also have bats in my back yard, but they're too fast to catch. I like the view from your bro's house!
bats are cool, but they can also be very dangerous
Lovely. I still can't grok your meaning for sure. Too many gem studded stars wizzing through my head. 😆 :rolleyes:Hope you don't mind the direct link. I'm feeling lazy today. It's done so often on here my refraining from doing so won't really help any.
😀
Flying squirrels are pretty cool too. We had one in our garage in New Jersey once and while studying Ecology at Oregon State U I removed one from a live trap during a mark, recapture exercise on mice and voles. They're nocturnal too.

It's strange that people seem to think that bats are so dangerous. :left:,I'd be more afraid of motorists! :insane:.
Aadil. <it was a nice few of evening. I think you did enjoy sitting there and ate something…
"I'd be more afraid ofmotorists! ". – Tell me about it! I worry more about drive overs than drive bys. I guess that's why I feel free to express my opinion. Any further negative reaction will only be a small blip in an already overwhelming trend. I usually go "the road less traveled" anyway. :left: 😆 :right:
Bats really are benificial for the most part. They eat insects, help pollinate plants and aid in their dispersal. They all get a bad rep from their little blood lapping cousin. :awww:
Bats are cute. Although, in Finnish the word has a funny double meaning 😀
Aadil, I love bats. They eat more mosquitos than any other single species, yes, pollinate plants. They eat a lot of bad bugs. World would be plagued by pandemics of mosquitos without bats. My son, and even my last husband, used to throw rocks up in the air at night. Using their sonar, the bats would think food was flying up into the air and would divebomb the pebbles. Mean, but an experiment you could try. I seriously doubt any were ever hurt from that prank. I hope not

😆 there's one I've been trying to post this morning but I'm saving it. Here's a hint: it's a cross between Theosophy and a reality game show. Ever hear of the "Henessy Grand Prix"? When I was 14 just out of the inlet that race starts from I had my only great white shark siting, to this date. It was from the flying bridge of my Dad's boat. :yikes:Now what could have brought that one there? And…, why do I THINK such thoughts?
cool ,actually i haven't seen Mr.bat before(i mean personally ) 😆
Most people don't, even when they have bats in the area. They generally come out to forage just after sunset and go home to roost after dark..
