Free speech
by subacati
Free speech is what a blog is all about. I like My Opera because I'm free to express my opinion.
Yet, I try to keep my opinion polite, and usually on my own blog. :left:. …
So why do some people feel compelled to flame-bait Muslims who express their beliefs? :left:.
Is it personal? Or do they have their own political agenda? Here is one example of 'visitors' to a blog going completely overboard. :irked:.

Does anyone who would deny someone the right to free speech deserve to speak so freely? :awww:.
Please visit that page and let your voice be heard if you value free speech. If we lose free speech, we lose all freedoms..
My personal favourite is that they're attacking Islam for depriving people of freedoms at the same time as calling him a traitor to Nigeria for having a different religion. Ah, good old fashioned intolerance by good old fashioned Christians with good old fashioned closed minds and good old fashioned hypocrisy. One has to wonder if that particular religious sect is so closed minded because if they opened it they'd run the risk of remembering what the priest did to them when they were children?
Read and reported for violating the terms and conditions. Now if only someone would do that to everyone who gets snarky with me over my beliefs.
Yes Mik, that was exactly what was annoying me the most. They weren't debating the post, they were attacking his freedom, and, by proxy, attacking the freedom of everyone. And they were doing it "in the name of freedom" :irked:.Had they been directly addressing the post with an alternative point of view, I would have continued to discuss with them. But they were simply ignoring the content and attacking his right to speak freely on his own blog. :awww:.
:knight: :left: wait. Wasn't that how the Crusades started? Nevermind.
I find that whoever I argue with I'm able to beat them on their own level, or at least show them up. However, when people are showing themselves up then they don't even deserve the argument.
Aadil, theres an old Dilbert panel that says, "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to your level and beat you with experience." Fecking idiots! π¦
True, very true. :knight:.
There is no tolerance in this world…
π¦ That people can not talk about their beliefs with open minds about each others beliefs. Talk to each other with respect when talking about each others faith.
Yep, just I like I do with Mik's make-believe of himself being a God.
Seriously though I don't know if he was being attacked or if he was just trying to say what he believes.
Yeah, just like I do with Carol's make-believe God. Seriously though, it's ridiculous that these people attacked him like that simply for having a different religion to them. It's not like he's an iPhone owner or something as evil as that.
Why do people join a debate, if they don't want to exchange opinions, but only want to advocate their own? I very rarely join debates, because I can't be bothered. However, I enjoy debates from the spectator's seats, and sometimes the displayed opinions will challenge my own opinion (and sometimes even my beliefs) and give me material for speculation and contemplation. My overall opinion is not stationary. It changes, as I grow older and wiser. Freedom of speech… Don't know about that. I used to be a newspaper journalist… π
Attagirl Carol. Give it back and never mean. I'll make a Furie outta you yet.
Mik, I'm always mean. π
π
Freedom of speech – yeah – I believe in that! Having said that – I hardly ever debate religion and/or politics – I can't be arsed… :left:
You're not allowed to talk. You're a cat, you don't have a soul! π‘
My head hurts now. :awww:
Castle will do that to you boet!.Give my regards to Charles Glass. :p.
:p I'm a Carling or Amstel man myself :p.The reading was a bit much you know :insane:
*feels bad about being mean to Kitty*:awww:
*eyes Mik suspiciously* π‘
It's not your fault you don't have a soul. :awww:
π π
*Whispers to Kitty*Milady… Should we tell you know who about our Soulgenerator? You do know, the guys at the lab have had a breakthrough recently and actually invoked the souls of both Abraham and Moses. I'm not saying that I believe in what he says about you having no soul, it's just that we do have some in store, if you should ever need one.
I think we better keep this to ourselves, Lion. Say, do them souls come in various colours?
Anything for Her Majesty… I'll get the guys at the lab to include a hue/saturation dialog, making it possible for you to pick any soul colour you would desire.
I was going to jump in there, but after seeing how rational comments by Aadil were met with irrationality, it all seemed rather pointless …
I've un-subscribed from that post..I did my best but it's not my blog and I can't do any more. :awww:.Had it been my blog, I'd simply have blocked each and every one of them. :irked:.
Note to self: Sgam this blog and next time spell it right.
Aadil, I agree that free speech is what a blog is all about, unless someone is posting some porn contents, speech of hate, racism, advertising,…which is forbidden on MyO community. As far as I know. π
Yes, when a person is blatantly going against the terms of service, they must be stopped. That is why there is a reporting process for that in place..
And i think no one should raise a question against any religion no1 have that right. And no religion tells to d-grade the other i blv.
Morningrose was drunk :left: loland argueng has three sides ,your side, morningrose side and the right side :Dpeople like her or him should'nt be noticed let them ….lol.
You've obviously never met Christians. Just yesterday I was telling someone that if, by their own admission, the only reason they do nice things for people is because they're scared of going to Hell, then they have a serious problem. He responded by telling me everything good I've ever done is God working through me. I pointed out I'm just not an asshole and am capable of doing things for people without something else having to take control or fear of God being involved. His head exploded at the concept.
Yeah, I've wondered about that one. "Fear of God" is touted as a good thing by a lot of Christian fundamentalists. Often spoken in a way that means 'Love of God' simultaneously, somehow.Originally posted by Furie:
So, you're incapable of doing good, whether it's because you're scared of going to hell, or not? And what about the times you don't 'do good?' Can God just not be arsed working through you that day? Then again, a lot of Christian fundamentalists also love to blame Satan for every evil thing that's done in the world (just watch some of the evangelist programs). Because, you know, God forbid (pun intended) people take personal responsibility for their actions …"Yes, I ran my car into that bus shelter full of children, your honour. But it was Satan that did it, really! Satan made me drink that bottle of whiskey before I started driving! If the devil hadn't put temptation in my way by making me walk five miles to the liquor store like that, those kids would still be alive today". :irked:
The question is, why did God command them to do it? Surely he could have done it working through them without having to command them to do anything?.
Why is it that, when everything good in the world is God's doing, we so often hear of murderers who did it because they were commanded to by God? :sherlock:
That about sums it up David..
