MTN vs Vodacom
by subacati
Because Vodacom does not have a 3G tower in my area, I purchased an MTN sim card. I've been running out of airtime a lot since then. :left:.
This morning, I loaded my MTN sim with R60 airtime. As I was traveling, I hardly used my phone today. So it kinda shocked me that my airtime ran out at 20h00 tonight! :yikes:.
I've loaded my MTN number with R60 airtime at least four times this last week! :irked:. On Vodacom I usually manage on about R150 for the month.. Just how expensive is MTN?.
😦
I don't know anything about this.. Stuff yer talking about… But it sounds.. Well.. :furious: and :insane: I hope you figure this out so you can be  and  and not broke because of your Opera-holism! 😀
You're not using airtime for data and it still runs out?I know MTN charges [last i checked] R2 per MB during peak times and R1 per MB offpeak times..I load 80 bucks and convert that to data and get charged 80cents per MB but I'm unsure if that's for on or offpeak times..I should mention that I never get a 3G Signal around here only when in Kimberley or Upington which are cities both about 100 and 227 km from where I am now..
Aadil I use vodacom and know that it cost R2 per mb if you don't buy a data bundle… And I got no idea how mtn works!? 😦
I do :p been on it since my introduction to mobiles :p
Sounds terribly confusing and very expensive. Clint, you deal with a lot of pictures! I'm surprised! :yikes:
My images are turned off most of the time.. Saves me a truckload of data
Ahhhh I see. And I think this is the last comment of this "appearance". Til next time. :o.
Could it be because of all the 3g use?
On Vodacom there is no surcharge for 3G. But even so, R60 should be good for thirty MB @ R2/MBThat's at least a weeks worth on Operamini. :left:.To cut that down to four hours of surfing, you'd have to charge about R50 just for 3G access. :insane:. If that was true, nobody would use 3G :insane:.

I don't think anyone buys airtime that way in South Africa. (the transaction charges would be twice the cost of the airtime)If you have a South African bank account, you can ask your bank to help setup cellphone banking. Any atm can be used to buy airtime, sent directly to your phone. But most people just buy those scratch ticket thingeys that litter the countryside! :awww:.Or try http://www.mtn.co.za for MTN
