News flash!

I've got a few things to mention so I'll pop then into one post..
, …
Firstly, I've bought a printer with a scanner.. It allows me to scan images into my phone and it enables me to print out images from my phone. What it doesn't do, however, is let me print out documents. :left:. There is some conflicting info in my phones manual since it implies that it can be used directly with certain printers. But the printer drivers need either Bluetooth or a wlan/internet connection!. So it seems that they only operate via a pc. :left:.
Anyway, it works great with the pictbridge feature so it's still great..
Of course, I can print .pdf files now by using this Online tool. And I can resize images and even grayscale them using the form below.,
All in all, it's been a good day..
:hat:that is great Aadil!enjoy it in a good health!
What did you end up getting, DH?You need phone to printer info Aadil?
Nokia N79. π It was a toss up between that one and the E71. I decided I didn't need a full keyboard and I like the style of the N79 better. I'll be switching to the new phone in a week or so.
I'll definitely watch for the firmware issues. I've already figured out that I have to close stuff out in order to keep from having tons of programs open all at once. I'm going to keep playing with it, so that I can get some of the basics down. Heh, heh. I'm scanning your blog right now for cool stuff. π Among you, Cois, and Aadil, I can get some pretty decent ideas of what I want to goof with. Heck, that's pretty much anything I can put on there, now that I think about it. π
That's awesome! :hat: New toys are a great feeling! :DI just got my new phone today and one of its features is that it can connect to devices via bluetooth and WLAN. I just never realized that maybe it could possibly connect to a printer. :eyes: I'll definitely keep the links you posted on-hand. I might need them sometime. π
Nice choice, but keep your eye on the firmware. Some versions have some pretty convoluted problems where this, this and this being open at the same time make this not work until reboot etc. Let me know if you want some cool software by the way. Also, check out my mailing list. I've got a load of free games that I'm sending out.
The zip manager I've got up is essential if you haven't got a free one on your Download section, but there's a better version out there mixed with an advanced file manager. I wont give you the name just yet as it's so good I managed to wipe my core files using it when I was in the playing about stage. The screenshot app I listed is the best one out there. I've got a few good image editing apps, some word processors and a few other bells and whistles that I'm testing out. Let me know if you want anything in particular.
Dont you just love the smell of new hardware?*sniff*
Thanks, Furie. When I figure out what I want, I'll let you know for sure.
Thanks Casey, Angeliki, Shaunak and Mik!.@ Mik, yeah, I could do with some help, :left:. So far it seems that the printer just treats the phone as a flash drive. The drivers on the phone all require network connection or bluetooth. Do you know if using a bluetooth dongle would work? I can print any image on my memory card but it doesn't appear to print text files.
Ah, right. That's the pictbridge system. It was designed just to send photos straight from cameras to printers. The system is only set up for images. There may be a workaround to get other files, but it probably involves changing them into images.
What do you mean by 'letter' size?. printing pictures is easy. But printing documents is another story. My printer appears to have support for using a bluetooth dongle so as soon as I have some cash, I'll have to test that.. I'm still looking for an easy way to crop images. :awww:.
I've got a three-in-one series from HP. Printer, scanner, and photocopier. Although, it can't scan stuff that larger than an A4. So I have trouble with scanning letter size documents. Direct printing is also available… you don't need a PC to print pictures from a USB, memocard, phone, etc. The only pain is selecting the pictures you want to print.BTW… wow! I've been looking for a site where I can easily resize images. I've been using photobucket to resize some of my pics, but there are limitations. And opening photoshop is a hassle.
You can resize using Ovi. Cropping is something else entirely though.
I don't think they even sell that here.. Almost all paper is either A3, A4, A5 or photo paper at similar sizes or smaller. A3 is Tabloid size and not common for home use although most laser jet office printers can accomodate it.. Yeah, it took all of three minutes of googling to find the link I posted. But finding a way to crop images on a mobile that doesn't already have the feature built in still eludes me. :irked:. It's where how many apps on getjar simply duplicate standard features like switching your bluetooth on and off. Surely every bluetooth equipped phone already has that feature builtin?.
uhm.. letter size is 'long' size… as in long bond paper.
Actually it depends. For example our phones have to go through the menus to turn it on and off. Certain applications may be downloaded that only turn Bluetooth on and off, and can be put on the active standby applications bar for faster use.I have a complete active standby replacement that has that function built in amongst many others.
On my phone, there is a built in app for that on the active standby. It seems so logical. In addition, whenever I run a bluetooth app, it asks if I want to turn bluetooth on when it's off. But I understand that all phones are different. I'm just saying that there's very little originallity in most third party 'apps' which merely duplicate existing functions. (on my phone at least)But the apps that I want seem non-existent. :awww:. It may be that I simply haven't found them yet.
Give me a list of what you want and I'll tell you what's close.
Something that allows me to modify images for starters. I need the following features;1: crop image2: join two images together3: lighten/darken images.4: some basic paint toolsthat photorite app was close but I don't have a credit card so I can't register it. :awww:
You have tried the still image editor from here yeah? It's the official Nokia one and should work on all phones that don't have it built in.
Photocard is the best you'll find for joining images together, but you'll need a cropping tool to get the most out of it.I'll find you a registration free version of Photorite for the rest as it's the standard in these phones. Not ideal but better than nothing.
Thanks..I clicked on the link, found the app and clicked download. That brought up the licence agreement, but the accept/decline bit didn't show up. I tried using mini 3 and even the builtin browser but no luck. So I used that mobitol link you found to read the page code for the licence agreement. It's in Javascript. I found the url, copied it and pasted into the 'go to website' text box on mini, and edited it. Then it finally brought up the download page. I installed it and it works fine.. so now I need Photocard! Where can I find that?
I sent it to you didn't I? In a load of other image editing packages.
No. :left:. But then you do get quite busy so I won't hold it against you! :p.You sent me Photorite. But it was the trial version that slaps the words, "trial version" and "Photorite" all over the processed images..Anyway, it's solved now, except for Photocard, I've got the features I wanted with that still image edit from Nokia. I can't understand why they didn't just put one on this phone to start with. Perhaps they assumed that a 'business man' wouldn't need to crop images? :left:.
My apologies..It seems that you did send a bunch of wildcard apps. I just checked my gmail archives and it's there. :left:. I think I had problems installing them, I'll give it another shot now..
Nokia own the company that makes Panoman as of a few weeks ago so expect it to be a free upgrade once the Ovi Store is up.
The E-series are business devices as you say. In the business world, phones with cameras were discouraged until recently, so image editing software was left out of most. It's a well known app, so I assumed you'd tried it. I always forget that well known in my phone based circle means a lot less than in the general public.
