PayPal scam
by subacati
PayPal is not available in South Africa. but still, I recieved a warning email from 'them' to update my details using the provided 'link'. The link clearly contains a javascript tail that, most likely, sends you to the wrong place. :insane:. …
Dear Paypal Member,
We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your . PayPal account
from a foreign IP address.
If you recently accessed your account while traveling or ISP has dynamic
IP address, the unusual log in attempts may have been initiated by you.
Please visit PayPal as soon as possible to verify your identity:
http :// fake address ending in ?<-*->=$d$[=1SnFSF==i zd [S0,sz<-*->
Verifying your information is a security measure that will ensure that you
are the only person with access to the account.
Thanks for your patience as we work together to protect your account.
Sincerely,
PayPal

PayPal Email ID PP321
Now this is the wierdest spam yet..
Someone should tell this ID10T ERROR that PayPal is not available to South Africans. :irked:.
:eyes:. The scary thing is, this HTML email is well laid out and looks reasonable enough to fool someone who's too busy to look at it carefully. :insane:.
It even warns you not to give your password to anyone, although I bet that fake link asks you for a password. :left:.
I've gotten that one a number of times and turned it into the spoof center on Paypal. They have it really well laid out though, I'll grant them that. :eyes: If I didn't know better than to click on whatever comes into my inbox, they might have come close to fooling me.They should have done their research. 😛
It's a phishing expedition. They bait the hooks and throw out the lines and hope they catch something. Unfortunately, some phish do bite. :awww:
This one is actually scary because it lacks the usually errors of spelling and grammar. I can't copy the html script with a cellphone, but if I could, you'd see just how neat and valid this email looks. :insane:.Gmail identified it as spam automatically, so that's one good thing. But this scam must have hooked a few people in the beginning. :awww:.
it is amazing how the human brain works! they never stop finding new ways to fool people! unbelievable! 😦
Ebay India conducts its e-commerce though "PaisaPay", something similar to paypal, yet an alarmingly large number of people fall for "Ebay – paypal" scams…..Just goes to re-enforce, never underestimate stupidity….
There is no PayPal in Serbia as well and sometimes I got the same mail "Dear Paypal Member blah, blah, blah…"I can't believe someone is catching at that bite anymore….
Whenever some website or service that I'm subscribed to sends me an email, it always contains either my name or my username. Sometimes both. And it's never a 'bulk' email sent to a hundred or more other recipients. :left:
